When we arrived the waves and the wind seemed quite gentle, so good conditions for us rookies. After squeezing into the wetsuits and waxing the boards, our lesson could begin: Some stretching, some dry runs and off we went into the water.

Our surf instructor was very helpful and patient… because surfing is not quite as easy as you might think or as it looks when you see it on TV.
Paddling, pushing up, falling down, swallowing water, this was pretty much the routine for our first attempts. But after some more runs and many helpful tips from our instructor, we eventually got better and almost managed to stand up on the board: In my opinion a great success. After 1,5 hours the fun was over and we were exhausted.

Learn2Surf is a company that represents the top surf schools & surfing instructors in South Africa. They offer high quality and safe instructions under the guidance of professional, SSA Approved Surfing Instructors.

My conclusion: I am definitely coming back to finally stand up on a board and I recommend everyone to have a beginners lesson with Learn2Surf, because it’s great fun! Enjoy!

If you would like to have the freedom to explore the area you are visiting independently, you might want to look into car hire South Africa for the perfect set of wheels.
