Day 1: Arrive Cape Town / Winelands
Arrive at Cape Town International Airport where a travel representative will meet you and assist you to your Drive South Africa rental car. From Cape Town International Airport drive out to the Western Cape's largest wine producing area, the Cape Winelands. This area boasts over 200 wine cellars and bottles some of the world's finest wines.
Day 2: Winelands
Spend the day discovering the Cape Winelands at your own pace. A haven of gracious, white-gabled farmsteads evoking a rich, elegant heritage, the Cape Winelands are the heart of South Africa's grape and wine production, steeped in history and scenic beauty. Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Franschhoek are renowned for their hospitality and picturesque scenery. Visit some of the areas many wine farms or soak up the tranquility with a stroll down the quaint streets in the historical town centres where museums and monuments pay homage to a rich history.
Day 3: Winelands / Oudtshoorn
Depart the Cape Winelands and head for ‘Route 62’, one of South Africa's magnificent travel routes, an alternative to the N2, this lesser known and less travelled route is a shorter, scenic alternative to the main highway. Make your way via Robertson, to Montagu and onto towns like Barrydale and Calitzdorp, a port wine producing area. Arrive in the 'feather capital', Oudtshoorn with its large ostrich farming industry, we recommend a visit to an ostrich show farm and a trip to the Cango Caves, this wonderful underground labyrinth offers standard or adventure tours.
Day 4: Oudtshoorn / Knysna
On Day 4, travel over the scenic Outeniqua Pass to George, nestled below the Outeniqua Mountains and on to the lagoon town of Knysna, situated between lush forest and a tranquil lagoon. Knysna's idyllic setting, excellent seafood and abundance of recreational activities make it a popular holiday destination.
Day 5: Knysna
Explore Knysna, we recommend a trip across the lagoon to the Feather Nature Reserve for a stroll through the forests and a view of the famous Knysna Heads. These majestic sandstone cliffs strike imposing figures guarding the mouth of the Knysna Lagoon. The town of Knysna has fascinating shops and walkways as well as excellent seafood restaurants and of course oyster bars along the waterfront.
Day 6: Knysna / Port Elizabeth
Travel to Port Elizabeth today, passing the ancient yellowood forests of the Tsitsikamma, arrive in Port Elizabeth where you drop off your Drive South Africa hire car and check in for your onward flight.
