Itinerary for Namibia 4x4 Self Drive Holiday
DAY 1 - Windhoek
You are met at the airport by the Bushlore guide/s and transferred to your hotel where a discussion about the trip and introduction to the vehicle will take place over a cup of coffee or refreshments of your choice. Enjoy a relaxing evening and dinner in Windhoek.

DAY 2 (350 KMS) - Waterberg
You pick up your vehicles and move north towards the Waterberg region. While visiting the Waterberg Plateau you will have the chance to see many different species of birds,over 200 different species have been recorded here. The scenery is fantastic and there are several short, self guided bush walks. There are several species of small antelope on the lower slopes of the mountain, the larger and more interesting animals have been brought to Waterberg for protection.

DAY 3 (350kms) - Hobatere
After an early morning game drive and English breakfast we continue North towards the Hobatere. area consists of rolling granite hills and kopjes interspersed with open valleys, plains and watercourses. This is also an excellent birding area and also offers great game viewing. It is situated on the edge of the Etosha National Park.

DAY 4, 5 (350kms) - Epupa
To quote the Bradt Travel Guide, `Epupa Falls don''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''t compare to Victoria Falls in scale, they are all the more beautiful for occurring in such an arid region.` Nowhere else in the world do you find a waterfall contrasted with such wild, arid desert landscape. Watching the Epupa Falls and its white mists of water against the red colours of the surrounding desert and mountains during sunset, with a sundowner drink in one hand and your camera or binoculars in the other, is likely to make up one the most beautiful and memorable experiences during your trip to Namibia. Join one of the local Himba guides as they take you through one of the small Himba villages in the region and learn how these fascinating nomadic people live, work, think and worship. You will be allowed to take photographs and will also be taken for a private visit to a traditional Himba Graveyard.

DAY 6 - Epupa to Van Zyls Pass
The Van-Zyls pass is regarded as the most difficult mountain pass in Namibia. The narrow track, leading through the rugged Otjihipa mountains, consists of coarse scree and jagged rocks. The gradients to be surmounted are quite extreme. For this reason, it takes about three hours to cover a distance of 10 kilometres by car. Only well-equipped four-wheel drive vehicles with powerful engines and good ground clearance are able to manage the trip. Once you have reached the bottom, the utopian landscape of the Marienfluss valley, surrounded by shimmering purple mountain chains, embraces you.

DAY 7 (200kms) - Otjinhunge
The Marienfluss, with its abundance of space, peace and tranquility is beyond any doubt one of the most magnificent valleys in Namibia. The river massages one''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s body and soul; there is time to relax and an opportunity to reflect while going for a walk or simply enjoying the environment.

DAY 8 - Purros
When you have made it to the small settlement of Purros you find yourself right in the middle of Kaokoveld with its vast plains, harsh mountains and dry river courses. Purros is a great place to experience Namibias scenic beauty and diverse wildlife totally untamed. This will be the part of your journey that you will never forget. The vastness of the Kunene Region offers great opportunities to view game in a natural setting far away from national parks. The dry riverbed of the Hoarusib is frequented by Elephant, Giraffe, Rhino, Kudu, Zebra, Ostrich and other species.

DAY 9 - Hoanib Fluss
The Hoanib river is known as one of the best places to see the Desert Elephant. We will focus our attention on finding these amazing desert adapted elephants. The desert lion, once thought to be extinct still occur in this area. Occasionally you will hear their distance roars when camping in the Hoanib region.

DAY 10 - Sesfontein - Palmwag
Sesfontein is situated in the north western part of Namibia, close to the Hoanib river, on the southern side of Kaokoveld. A gap in the mountains gives access to the valley basin on Sesfontein (six fountains) where lush green gardens give the andscape its special oasis charader.

DAY 11 (180 kms) - Palmwag/Reserve day
On the edge of a huge concession, Palmwag is beautifully situated next to a palm-lined tributary of the Uniab River, which often flows over-ground here. As water is very scarce in this area, its presence regularly draws elephants close to camp.This road goes through open plains, dune fields as well as mountain areas with a good opportunity to see the desert adapted Elephants. Palmwag is one of the better game areas in Namibia and set in a vast wilderness. Animals encountered will include Giraffe, Oryx, Springbok, Mountain Zebra, Kudu, and, if you are very lucky, the endangered Black Rhinoceros

DAY 12 - DAY 13 (250 kms) -
Southern Damaraland - Twyfelfontein/Brandberg
Travel north to the rugged and scenic area of Southern Damaraland. Landscape varies from grass plains, to rolling hills and Granite hill formations. Famous Bushmen paintings
