The first of the De Waal Park Summer Concerts will be held this Sunday and right through to April 2012.

The Summer Concerts in the Park will kick off in style on Sunday 27 November at 16h00, with a performance by Afro-Jive band Hot Water. Hailed by the media as one of the most exciting musical projects to come out of South Africa, the multi-cultural five-piece is known for their vibrant blend of traditional South African music such as kwela, mbaqanga, sokkie, maskandi, and kwasa kwasa. Hot Water is a favourite at most of SA’s big festivals, and has toured as far as Holland and Germany. All the Summer Concerts in the Park will start at 15h00, and entrance is free! Patrons are encouraged to arrive from 14h00. De Waal Park is located on Molteno Street. Proudly Sponsored by Remax.

4 December: Sterling EQ

The SAMA winning instrumental supergroup Sterling EQ will be treating the public to a selection of their unique brand of instrumental pop, featuring some of the crowd-pleasing favourites and virtuoso showstoppers which have earned them an international reputation. 

18 December: Karen Zoid

Multi-award winning, South Africa's pride and gold selling “rock chick” has headlined at most of SA's top festivals, played at the 46664 Concert, constantly features on the covers of glossy magazines and TV. She will be at the De Waal Park to wow fans.

15 January: Philharmonic brass quintet

The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra consist of professional players who all share a passion for music. The quintet has performed at a number of concerts. They will mesmerise visitors with al genres including Baroque, Classical, Light Jazz and Pop.

5 February: The Gugulethu Tenors

Described as "Pavarotti's children", this Afro-operatic pop sensation has had all the success to overshadow their humble beginnings. It is a vocal feast that offers something for everyone from opera favourites to” Raise You Up”.

19 February: The Rudimentals

This African-SKA band is a multi social group of six talented and diverse musicians having appeared at Cape Town's International Jazz Festival, Kirstenbosch, the Cape Metropolitan, Cape Town City Festival of Lights and Oppikopi.

4 March: Ike Moritz

Having played in 17 countries worldwide, this talented producer, songwriter, actor and producer has 11 albums from Indie Rock – Latin/Easy Listening and Jazzy Swing. 

18 March: Saudiq Khan

This flamenco guitar wizard developed his passion in Seville Spain, the very heart of Flamenco music. He and his band captivates all with Flamenco. They play Latin as well as Jazz.

1 April: Nomfusi (starting 15h00)

With a charismatic powerhouse dynamic stage presence, SAMA & Metro FM Award nomination – with 9 international tours this jet setting songbird and band is setting a new bench mark in jazz music.
