Do your bit for the seabirds
The annual Save Our Seabirds (SOS) Festival aims to educate people about the threats seabirds face. Birdlife South Africa needs all the help they can get and this initiative will help people to acknowledge this and help make a difference. The SOS festival boasts a jam packed programme with plenty of fun activities and opportunities to get involved in saving these animals.
When and where:
The event takes place from the 10th to the 20th October at various locations in Cape Town.

A mountain of a special for kids
There's no adult in the world who appreciates nature as much as children do. That is why Table Mountain has come up with a variety of specials for our little ones. This special ranges from free cable car rides to photo competitions and food specials at the café. Make a plan to take the kids before this offer ends on 30th October.
When and how much:
Every day from 08:30 to 18:00 until the 30th October. Two kids under the age of 18 get to ride the cable for free as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The Table Mountain Café will offer a pizza slice plus a cup of hot chocolate at R26.50 per person under 18.

Live music every Friday at Daddy Cool's
Summer is here and the ever so cool Daddy Long Legs Bar at The Daddy Cool Hotel in Long Street is hosting a live band every Friday. This Friday, the 21st October, is inviting everyone to join for some live music by Rolling Thunder, a band that specialises in great sound, great vocals and great friends.

Howlo'ween at the Johannesburg Zoo
This popular evening event at the Johannesburg Zoo sees visitors touring the "scary animals" and trick or treating. A wonderful outdoor family event.
When and how much:
Saturday 29th October and the entrance fee is R55 per person and children get in free.

Strawberry Festival in Tiegerpoot
Music artists and kids entertainment and of course lots and lots of strawberries are the main role players in this fun-filled family event. Bring a blanket and an umbrella. Strawberries in all forms will be sold - choc-dipped strawberries, strawberries and cream, strawberry ice cream and much much more!
When and where:

Bloemfontein Rose Festival
Around this time of year, the City of Roses attracts thousands of visitors all over the country. If you appreciate the beauty and intricacy of this magical flower, the Bloemfontein Rose Festival is for you! Loch Logan Waterfront has aligned itself this year to participate fully in the Bloemfontein Rose Festival, one of the absolute highlights of the Central South African events calendar.
When and how much:
Saturday 22nd October and Sunday the 23rd. Entrance is free as it is in the public areas of the Loch Logan Waterfront.

Cape Town International Kite Festival
Africa's biggest festival is here and if you are in the Western Cape, you have absolutely no excuse not to witness this explosion of colour and happy people. "Uplifting Mind and Body" is the theme for the 16th Cape Town International Kite Festival, which is happening on 22nd and 23rd October 2011 in Muizenberg and is proudly hosted by Cape Mental Health organisation and Heart 104.9FM radio station.
