Each year Lonely Planet picks 10 destinations it believes are the best value for money for that year. In 2010, Namibia makes Lonely Planet's top value destination list, the only African representative.
"Botswana wants big spenders only and South Africa’s not the deal it once was, so southern Africa bargain hunters should head for Namibia"
Catering to backpackers with an excellent network of tours, mini buses and 4x4 self-drive travellers you can still get by on less than $50 a day. Of course if you increase your budget, Namibia responds in kind providing excellent value for money in the mid range market and some steals in the luxury category.
